Here is another: This is a bad winter for our snowmobile clubs.

The simple fact is the lack of snow has really put a damper on club memberships. Club membership is running 27% behind last years. Club finances are hurting. The club still need to go out and set stakes, repair bridges and culverts and of course the biggest financial demand, pay for the groomer(s) that has for the most part been sitting in the barn all winter.

Remember that the Trail Development and Maintenance Fund only supports a portion of the trail maintenance expenses. The clubs are the infrastructure upon which the trail system is built. If they do not survive this winter, the trail system will not survive either.

I am not going to plead with you to register your sled. That is a decision I will leave to you. But I will ask you invest $25 in your club membership, so that you are assured of having a snowmobile trail system next year and into the future.
